Jeffrey Weissman PhotoJeffrey Weissman is a 33 year veteran of film, theater, television, environmental, industrial and commercial acting.

He’s perhaps best known for taking over the role of George McFly in "Back to the Future II and III", but he also co-starred with Clint Eastwood in “Pale Rider”, with John Lithgow in “Twilight Zone: The Movie”, on TV with Dick Van Dyke in “Diagnosis Murder” plus many others.

He's worked with directors; George Miller, Louis Malle, Robert Zemeckis, Amy Heckerling, Catherine Harwicke, Clint Eastwood, Mark Rydell, Oz Scott and dozens of other industry greats. 

Mr. Weissman teaches at the San Francisco School of Digital Film Making, Sonoma State University, and other institutions. Jeffrey got rave reviews as winemaker Jerry Hannon in the mockumentary, “Corked.”

He recently completed work on several short films, and the indie features,“Two Mothers” with John Heard, “American Disciples” and "The Stranger Among Us."

In this 3 Part workshop Jeffrey will lead you thru ...

PART One: "The Basics of the Business"(Friday April 30, 2010)

- Get a clear understanding of what professionals expect from you, and what you need to do to maintain a successful career.

- Putting together your business team: agent. manager, publicist, media/travel/reader assistant(s), production company.

- Developing casting director relations, doing your on going training, pros & cons of union & non-union work, negotiating your credit, salary and perks.

- We'll learn how to do talent interviews/auditioning, and understand the difference between commercials, industrials, features, television, and  agent auditions.

- Get to know protocol, and how to take direction.

- Learn how to bring your uniqueness, intuition, choices and improv to the text.

- Exposure to relaxation technique, Cold Reading technique, the two minute script breakdown, and making choices that support the text.

- We'll tape on camera interviews. 

PART TWO:"The Language of Working on a Professional Set"
(Sunday May 23, 2010) (combined class 2 &3)

- Hitting your marks (walking, driving, eyes, etc), doing "business", hitting the "hot spot", shooting in & out of sequence, matching business, matching for shots: long, medium, close up, ots, tracking, etc.

- Protocol: on set relations and communication. Working with the team: director, cinematographer, sound, editor, writer (if any on set) and other departments (on set make up, costumes, assistant director)

- Continue the work of your craft: We will work on warm ups, improv, continue cold readings, tools for character development and listening skills.

- We'll tape and critique on camera interviews. 

PART THREE: "Scene Study and Monologues" (Sunday, May 23, 2010)

- We will continue scene study from the previous workshops with more in depth exploration: understand scene transitions, character transitions, "thoughts", using silence, playing & supporting the story arch, taking risk and deepening emotions.

- Exposure to techniques: Method exercises, Meisner, Hagan, Chekhov's physical gesture, Gratowski, Suzuki & LeCoq's approaches to physical work.

- We'll discuss other technical elements: green screen work, motion capture, camera reference, make up effects, body suit, and voice over.

- We'll also cover on set safety, dance & song interpretation, and even stage combat!

- We'll tape and critique on camera interviews.
